Gauging a coaching staff’s impact on a team is an almost impossible job from the outside.

We’re referring more to the staff beneath the head coach in this case.

In this day and age, where practises are closed to the media for fear of some vital piece of strategy or information leaking out to an opponent and late-night visits to the gym to get in extra work go unrecorded, we are left to pretty much rely on what the players tell us and what little we see in the pre-game warm-up as to how involved or not the staff is and what type of impact they have.

It’s not a whole lot upon which to build any definite opinions.

So about an hour before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons we spot Kyle Lowry seated courtside looking off into space and think he might be able to shed some light on the topic.

“Got time for a couple of questions?,” the hopeful reporter asked Lowry.

“Not really,” Lowry said.
