Loss to Nets is valuable experience for Raptors

NEW YORK - In the end, losing to the Nets on Monday actually wasn’t all that bad a result for the Raptors.

Of course, a win would have been preferable — victories always are — but the team took a few things away from the contest that could help in the long run.

Like what not to do against a tough, swarming defence when the going gets rough, a problem that has also been apparent when Toronto has played Chicago, a similar squad to the Nets in terms of the way they aggressively defend.

As well as how to deal with a hostile crowd on the road. Due to Brooklyn’s sizzling run since Jan. 1, the Barclays Center is now a loud, rocking building. The Raptors committed a host of turnovers in the latter stages of the game and also failed to inbound the ball in time on one crucial play, with the atmosphere and noise having something to do with many of the miscues.
