Game 2 of the pre-season was easier to watch and better-executed than the opener, but the Raptors ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard this time around, losing 101-89 to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the ACC on Wednesday.

Head coach Dwane Casey summed up the game in a way he never would during the regular season.

“I like that we showed some things that we need to work on,” Casey said, genuinely pleased.

And those would be?

“We are definitely not where we want to be defensively,” he said.

Minnesota shot 46.8% from the field and had 21 assists to just 10 turnovers. The visitors faced little resistance in the second half after going into the break trailing by four.

“It was a bad effort on defence tonight,” added Jonas Valanciunas, who optimistically added, “we have a lot of things to fix and we’re going to start tomorrow.”

Kevin Love had 20 points and nine rebounds in his first Toronto appearance in two years and Ricky Rubio added seven
