TORONTO - A lot of times you hear our civic politicians babble on about how Toronto is “the greatest city in the world.”

It’s particularly amusing hearing this assessment while sitting in a traffic jam at 3 in the afternoon or while sweating it out after a power failure during a heat wave.

Some people are paid, or are obligated, to say nice things about T.O. But if you want an honest assessment of what Toronto has to offer from a neutral source, from a guy who was born and raised in Los Angeles and fell in love with this town after making the move here, talk to Raptors forward Amir Johnson.

Rarely, if ever, has a professional athlete from another city or country fallen in love with Toronto the way Johnson has, or promotes this city the way big No.15 does. From his website (Amirjohnson.com), to his Twitter account (@IamAmirJohnson), to his private TV channel (AmirTV), the fifth-year Raptor is constantly talking up his adopted hometown, and hitting the streets to mix with fans, which includes taking chicken wings out to fans after games at the ACC.

“What can I say? I love Toronto,” said Johnson following a team practice on Thursday. “And I love the fans.”
