TORONTO - Chris Wright made such an impression on Raptors head coach Dwane Casey a year ago he nearly made the team then.
Circumstances contrived to keep the 6-foot-7 forward from full-time Raptors employment, but he has not given up.
Wright accepted a second consecutive invite to join the Raptors summer league team in Vegas in July and then a worrisome month later another invitation to training camp showed up.
Now he’s back in a similar spot to last year, but this time knowing the system, most of the people playing in the system and the people coaching the system and he can’t help but feel a little more comfortable.
But that’s as much comfort as Wright will allow himself. Too much comfort and he might let up a little and Wright flat-out refuses to let up.
“I want to say I’m comfortable but not satisfied,” he said. “Yeah I did it last year so I know what they expect in a way, I know what I need to do. It’s no longer new to me and that’s a big help.”
