The move from decision maker for the Toronto Raptors to the business side of the operation never seemed like it would suit Bryan Colangelo and now we have the proof.
It was just over three weeks ago that Colangelo’s role within MLSE took a drastic step back.
Under new MLSE president and CEO Tim Leiweke, Colangelo went from President and General Manager, basketball operations eventually settling in as President, Team and Business Operations.
In short, he was removed from the basketball side of the operation to make room for Masai Ujiri who has since handled those duties.
Colangelo worked under his new title for a day past a month before deciding the role wasn’t for him.
“Having had the better chance to reflect on things for the past several weeks, I have concluded that stepping away from my position is the best course of action for the organization and everyone involved,” he said in a statement released by the team.
