If this was a glimpse into the Raptors’ future, there are going to be a slew of Raptors’ fans doing a quick backtrack.

While there is no way to accurately measure a prevailing sentiment, suffice to say the one that has the Raptors unable to operate efficiently with DeMar DeRozan at shooting guard and Rudy Gay at small forward has a rather large following.

What those people who buy into that theory should know is the two men it is centred on laugh at it.

In fact they have been laughing at it since that Jan. 31 evening when Gay joined DeRozan as part of the Raptors core.

All Gay and DeRozan did together yesterday was combine for 62 points to stop the playoff-bound Brooklyn Nets in their collective tracks in a 93-87 win.

The Nets are obviously already playoff-bound, but were still playing with a slim chance of leaping up to the third spot in the Eastern Conference by winning out and having the Indiana Pacers lose out.
