Lakers finally finding their groove

Life has been no bowl of cherries for the Raptors this season, but for their opponents Friday night, the 2012-13 season has been so unexpected it’s almost impossible to categorize.

Total bust, utter collapse, however you want to pigeon hole the Los Angeles Lakers season to date, there are few who would argue.

Of course those descriptions will only apply if the Lakers do not make the post-season.

And don’t look now, but the Lakers have played themselves into that being a very real possibility, if not a likelihood.

Since January 25, the Lakers have gone 14-6, and have not lost two consecutive games. They have crept to within a game and a half of the final Western Conference playoff spot currently held by Utah and two games off the seventh spot held by Houston.

Perhaps more significantly, the Lakers have figured out a few things, none bigger that Mike D’Antoni’s system does not mesh with this crop of players.
