Amir Johnson gives praise to Tristan Thompson
By FRANK ZICARELLI, QMI Agency

Canadian Tristan Thompson and the Cavaliers play host to the Raptors on Wednesday.

TORONTO - Amir Johnson has seen Tristan Thompson up close, banged bodies in the post and tried to keep Cleveland’s forward from getting to his sweet spot.

Given his youth and inexperience, Thompson’s game is far from a finished product, but Johnson sees a lot of good things in store for the Canadian hoopster.

“He’s become a very good athlete,”said Johnson of Thompson. “His post moves are getting better. I think the sky’s the limit for that kid.”

Thompson turns 22 on March 13, three days after he makes his final visit to Toronto for this season.

The Cavs aren’t heading for the post-season, but they are heading in the right direction, picking up the pieces in the post LeBron James era.

There’s an all-star piece in point guard Kyrie Irving, who was ruled out of Tuesday’s away game against the Bulls with a sore knee, and an emerging big in Thompson.
