Andrea Bargnani injury kept Raptors from trading him: GM
By MIKE GANTER, QMI Agency

Colangelo says Bargnani's injury prevented him from being traded

TORONTO - The Raptors did what they had to do to shore up a loose point guard rotation this week, but the other shoe that could have dropped never really had a chance.

Looking back on the NBA trade deadline, Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo said the team really got its work done three weeks earlier with the acquisition of Rudy Gay. He categorized Thursday’s deal for point guard Sebastian Telfair as “insurance," but said any serious interest from the outside in acquiring Andrea Bargnani never really had a chance.

“Unfortunately, Andrea got hurt,” Colangelo said. “Once the injury occurred, his return, as late as it was in the process, as near to the trade deadline [as it was], probably did not leave enough runway with respect to a deal being made now. That didn’t stop us from having dialogue with other teams or teams expressing interest.
