The shock and sadness has worn off for Ed Davis, and he’s getting used to life in Memphis.

Davis faced the Raptors for the first time on Wednesday since being traded for Rudy Gay three weeks ago.

Beforehand, Davis admitted that he was rattled by the move.

“Obviously, the trade was a surprise … I heard the rumours. I didn’t really think much of it. Especially because it was my first time being traded, I didn’t know what to expect,” Davis said, adding that it’s been tough not being around his best friend, DeMar DeRozan, all the time.

They still text every day.

“When it first happened, I was hurt. Coming in the locker room, it was tough on me. But that’s over with. I’m just looking forward to this team and going to the playoffs.”

Davis was crushed that night in Atlanta when he had to say goodbye to his teammates. A towel covered his head so that nobody could see his eyes, red from tears after an emotional team farewell behind closed doors.
