Raptors top Wizards for fifth win in a row

It’s almost comical now looking back at those early Rudy Gay days in Toronto when there was concern that he and DeMar DeRozan might not function well together.

The one-two scoring punch combination has been a thing of beauty ever since Gay arrived. Playing their eighth game together, the duo once again led the Raptors charge as they tied a season high with their fifth consecutive victory of the season in a 96-88 victory over Washington.

The Wizards came into this one on a bit of a roll of their own having won four of the past five heading into the break, but had lost all offensive rhythm over the four-day break and didn’t exactly come prepared to defend.

For the game, the Raptors held Washington to just 39% shooting. The Raps themselves were a tad under 45% but it was enough to secure the win, their first in five visits to this arena. The Raps had not won here since December, 2009.

Do you like the new-look Raptors heading into the 2013-14 NBA season?
Yes, new GM made great moves
No, they will still be a terrible team
Unsure what to make of it
