Raptors take Heat to OT before losing

MIAMI – Shocking the Lakers on Sunday wasn’t enough for the Raptors.

The team had bigger things in mind.

Like knocking off the defending NBA champion Miami Heat in Florida for instance.

It almost came to pass.

Despite being outscored by 11 points in the third quarter, the Raptors stayed square with the mighty juggernaut into the dying seconds and after missed shots by DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James, headed to overtime.

From there though, bad shot selection and too much Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen did in the Raptors, 123-116 losers in the end.

Wade scored 35 points — six in extra time — Allen hit for 18, including a dagger three, and presumptive MVP LeBron James scored 31 points in notching a triple-double.

Alan Anderson led Toronto with 20, but got too trigger-happy late. Six other Raptors scored at least 12 points.
