Bargnani denies calling Raps 'worst team'

TORONTO - The usually mild-mannered, non-expressive Andrea Bargnani passionately addressed the media looking visibly annoyed.

Bargnani wanted to speak his mind and clarify what he believed to be a misquote that painted him in a bad light.

Earlier this week, Bargnani spoke to the Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Sport.

The translated version of the conversation quoted the veteran forward as saying the Raptors were: “The worst team in the NBA right now.”

It later added, “It’s a tragic thing. Whatever way you look at it, it’s a desperate situation.”

The translated headline read “We are the worst in the NBA,” and that likely was the main source of Bargnani’s anger, as it didn’t accurately reflect what he said.

A day earlier, Bargnani had told the Toronto media that he was “very unhappy” about his elbow injury and added, “Our record is extremely bad right now.”
