TORONTO - Nothing against Erie, Pa., but Solomon Alabi is ecstatic to be back with the Raptors.

The rookie centre rejoined his teammates after practice on Thursday after being called up from the D-League.

"I never want to go back to the D-League," said the 7-foot-1 native of Nigeria. "I want to be in the NBA."

Alabi, who averaged 8.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 22.7 minutes in seven games with the Bayhawks, said it is tough to make an impact in that league since guards tend to all but ignore big men.

"Everyone out there is working so hard to get signed in the NBA. You don't really get the ball," Alabi said.

"Everybody tries to go out there and play and show what they can do, so it is difficult. I just tried to block shots and rebound."

Alabi said he didn't even know he had been recalled by the Raptors and he had to be informed through his agent, Bill Duffy.

"(The Raptors) tried to call but I turned off my phone while I was there because I've got a Canadian phone and the roaming charges were killing me," said Alabi with a laugh.
