TORONTO - The knife came a little earlier than even Reggie Evans expected.
Evans had surgery Wednesday in Charlotte to repair a non-displaced fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.
He is expected to be sidelined approximately eight weeks.
Earlier this week Evans, via his Twitter account, informed his fans he would have surgery on Dec. 2. But a day earlier to the hospital means a day earlier back to doing what he loves to do.
Evans broke the foot last Friday in Boston. At the time he was averaging 12.1 rebounds a game which remains third in the NBA.
Two nights before the injury in a game against Philadelphia, Evans pulled down a career-high 22 boards.
Amir Johnson started in Evans place against the Wizards after head coach Jay Triano used Joey Dorsey in that spot in the first game after Evans’ injury on Sunday.
