DeRozan channels his inner nerd

Demar DeRozan was back in Toronto, channelling his inner Clark Kent on Friday night.

At least those black horn-rimmed glasses gave that impression. DeRozan said he picked them up for a couple of bucks at a sporting goods store and thought he would try the look.

Reviews were mixed.

DeRozan was in town to get his accommodations for the next season squared away and took in last night’s Canada versus France exhibition.

Asked about the controversial departures of Chris Bosh and Hedo Turkoglu and the unkind words they had about the city they have left behind, DeRozan sidestepped the question initially and then suggested he will enjoy proving those guys wrong.

Entering his second year in the NBA, DeRozan has no problems at all with the city where he makes his living.

As far as changes go, DeRozan looks moderately heavier than he did at the conclusion of his rookie season, all of it the good kind of bulk added through the shoulders.

DeRozan had just come from Tim Grgurich’s basketball camp in Vegas where he worked out with Sonny Weems and Joey Dorsey.

As for last night’s game, DeRozan said he was surprised by the physical nature of international basketball.

Canadian point guard Ryan Bell caught the Raptors sophomore’s eye last night.
