It was reported late Tuesday that Charlie Villanueva, who broke into the NBA as a Raptor, was traded to Milwaukee for T.J. Ford and last summer bolted the Bucks for the free-agent bucks in Detroit, faces a domestic assault charge stemming from a May 19 incident in Burlington.

Wednesday, Charlie V posted several items on his Twitter account.

“Don’t always believe what you hear, or what you read,” read his first post.

“My day won’t be ruined, going to the gym, have to stay focus, I’m on a mission.”

Then came the following: “A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at them.”

The report went on to say that Villanueva was released by Halton Regional Police on a promise that he would appear in court July 9. The name of the complainant and details haven’t been made available.

Villanueva’s former team made on-court news when the Bucks acquired veteran swingman Corey Maggette from the Clippers in exchange for Dan Gadzuric and Charlie Bell.

It’s a solid move by the Bucks, who emerged as a feel-good story last season until Andrew Bogut’s late-season elbow injury.
