LANCE HORNBY

Andrea Bargnani, the Raptors' 7-foot centre, at least offered some resistance to Charlotte Bobcat Gerald Wallace's one-man wrecking crew on Friday night at the Air Canada Centre. His solid shoulder under the basket sent a charging Wallace crashing to the floor after an earlier steal saw Wallace jam a fancy dunk in front of the Toronto bench.

An angry Wallace came up from the bump acting like he wanted to start swinging but Bargnani didn't react.

"It wasn't a message," Bargnani insisted yesterday. "We just ran into each other. Just normal contact."

Peterborough calling

Politicians and businessmen in Peterborough have invited Chris Bosh to experience their city after the captain's good natured ribbing during his guest shot as CFTO weatherman earlier this month.

When describing temperatures around the GTA, Bosh was thrown off as he pointed to Peterborough, laughing that he didn't know how many people lived there (about 75,000). Now he has been asked to come to the city and dedicate an outdoor basketball court as well as get a limousine tour. He reportedly is considering it after the season.

Buzzer beaters

During an update on the NCAA tournament during Friday's Raptors telecast, it was noted that Duke leads all schools with 14 players now in the NBA. Tied for second with 12 were Connecticut and UCLA which on the Raptors' side includes Jake Voskuhl and Jason Kapono, respectively...The Los Angeles Clippers roster no longer has guard Hassan Adams who was sent to California in a December trade by the Raptors. Adams has since been waived and is playing in Serbia. But former Raptors Marcus Camby and Fred Jones will be among the Clippers at the ACC today.
