Forward Chris Bosh did not make the trip to Washington D.C. for last night's game, opting to remain in Toronto.

Raptors officials said that it would not have made sense for Bosh to sit on a plane for two hours when it was clear that he wasn't going to play.

Bosh has missed two games because of a strained right groin, suffering during the second quarter against Memphis on Nov. 28. He is listed as day-to-day.

MORE MOON MADNESS

Wherever the Raptors go now, the local media advances on Raptors head coach Sam Mitchell to ask him about the emergence of Toronto's 27-year-old rookie Jamario Moon.

A Washington scribe yesterday asked Mitchell about the fact that his career as a player, and his background, mirrors Moon's.

Before making it into the NBA, Mitchell bounced around basketball's minor leagues. Prior to making the Raptors this season, Moon also played for years in the CBA, as well as the USBL.

Both Mitchell and Moon are from the southern U.S., the coach from Columbus, Ga., and Moon from Goodwater, Ala.

But Mitchell bristled at the suggestion that the similarity in the backgrounds had anything to do with Moon making the team.

"I see the background, but as a player, he's much better," Mitchell said. "We kind of travelled the same road, but I didn't let any of that into my judgement. That wouldn't have been fair to any of the guys that we released. Jamario had to make the team based on what he can do and what he can bring to the team. It wasn't going to be anything because it reminded me of my background and how I came to the NBA. That wouldn't have been fair. He earned it."

The Raptors waived forward Luke Jackson prior to the season to make room for Moon.
