Euro grudge matches

The week's schedule includes a distinct European flavour with the Utah Jazz and Russian forward Andrei Kirilenko starting things off tomorrow against the Raptors.

It was Kirilenko's Russian squad that upset defending FIBA world champion Spain which, of course, included Raptors' Jose Calderon and Jorge Garbajosa by a score of 60-59 earlier this fall to win the EuroBasket 2007.

On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors are in for a visit marking the first time Italian national team members Andrea Bargnani and the Warriors Marco Belinelli face each other in the NBA. Belinelli was an 18th overall selection by Golden State last summer. At the EuroBasket championships, Belinelli average 15.5 points a game while Bargnani averaged 12.6.

BYPASSING LENNY

Sam Mitchell is three victories shy of overtaking Lenny Wilkens on the Raptors wins list for coaches. Mitchell has 111 wins under his belt in the three-plus seasons. Wilkens had 113 wins between 2000 and 2003. Butch Carter is next on the list with 73.

NO SWELLED HEAD HERE

T.J. Ford was asked if there was any danger of the Raps getting a little too full of themselves following that ridiculously easy 101-71 romp over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

"Nah, I don't think so," Ford said. "We understand how important these three games at home are. First Utah and then Indiana and Golden State. All those teams are definitely doing pretty good. It's going to be a hard week."

RADIO CHANGE

The radio broadcast of this Sunday's game versus the Golden State Warriors (1 p.m.) will be heard on AM 610 in order to accommodate the CFL Eastern Final on the FAN 590.
