Morris Peterson played through sickness in San Antonio after coming down with what he believes was some type of food poisoning. He was feeling much better yesterday at shootaround and it's good thing too because he's being asked to start in place of the injured Anthony Parker. Peterson didn't see anything extraordinary about playing through his troubles. "Welcome to the NBA," Peterson said. "It stands for no boys allowed."
NOW THAT'S GENEROSITY
Not sure if this has anything to do with the Raptors, but the Houston Rockets scheduled a ticket giveaway for the one and only visit by Toronto. The promotion is called "Red Rowdy for a Night" and is by Budweiser.
Promising to "give away hundreds of tickets to the Rowdiest Rocking Fans," all that was required for a free ticket was to show up by 6 p.m. last night wearing red. Haven't seen anything like that in Toronto.
AROUND THE RIM
Parker's sprained right ankle is a severe sprain but diagnostic testing Tuesday in Houston confirmed no structural damage to the ankle. Last night marked the first game the Raptors have started this year without Parker on the floor.
Forward Joey Graham has appeared in 56 of the Raptors 57 games heading into last night .... Last night's start for Peterson was his first of the year at shooting guard although he made six starts earlier this year at small forward ... The Houston Rockets have been outrebounded by their opponents in their past five games. This from a team that is ranked the 5th best rebounding team in the NBA ... Jose Calderon's assists per turnover rate of 3.75 is the best in the league while Jorge Garbajosa's steals per turnover ratio of 1.35 is second-best in the NBA behind Phoenix's Shawn Marion and his 1.42 ratio.
