Bosh's technical a rarity

Chris Bosh was as surprised as anyone when he was hit with a technical foul in Friday's game for taunting.

Bosh had just dunked on Boston's Michael Olowokandi and, turning away from Olowokandi toward the Raptors bench, gave his teammates a triumphant snarl.

The technical that followed had everyone on the Raptor bench scratching their heads.

"He thought I was taunting him," Bosh said of the referee. "I told him I was looking at the bench and not (Olowakandi) but he thought I was looking at one of their players. We got it straightened out. I'm not that type of player. I'm not going to taunt anybody."

RUMOUR MILL

According to the New York Daily News, the Raptors and Detroit Pistons have talked about a deal that would involve Dale Davis and Flip Murray heading to Toronto for Morris Peterson. The Raptors would rather have Antonio McDyess, but Detroit isn't prepared to trade the former Knick.

ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

Pape Sow is back and pratising with the team after being sidelined all season after he fractured a vertebrae in his neck in the Las Vegas Summer League.

The problem is the Raps are in the midst of a stretch in their schedule when full practices are few and far between. The Raps were on the court for an hour yesterday but there was no formal practice and certainly not the contact Sow has to re-acquaint himself with before coach Sam Mitchell will even think of getting him in a game.

"That's the tough thing about coming off an injury," Mitchell said yesterday. "He's got to find a way to work on his own. I can't hold a full scrimmage practice for two hours to get one guy ready to play."

The Raps have a game today playing host to the Dallas Mavericks, another tomorrow in Philadelphia and then go game day, off day for the next 12 days. So it is unlikely Sow is going to have any contact any time soon.

A trip to the D-League would be in order, except for the fact Sow is in his third year and not eligible to play there.

He stayed long after practice yesterday, working on his shot until the Mavericks showed up an hour after most of his teammates had departed.
