More back woes for Davis

Raptors centre Antonio Davis spent yesterday in New York with a consultation with a back specialist. Davis, acquired for Jalen Rose who went to the New York Knicks, was put on the inactive list yesterday because of the injury. Davis, who has been playing in pain, injured his back during a fall in Miami on Monday. "He's having some pain and discomfort," Raptors coach Sam Mitchell said. Davis will rejoin the team in time for Saturday's game in New Jersey against the Nets.

NO PROGRESS FOR HOFFA

No decision has been made on another injured Raptor, Rafael Araujo, who has been out of the Raptors lineup since Jan. 23. Araujo has a slight tear in his right labrum. Surgery has not been ruled out.

BENCH WOES FOR RAPTORS

The shifting of Charlie Villanueva into the starting lineup has highlighted a frightening lack of offence from the Raptors bench. In Wednesday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the Raptors bench was outscored 35-9.

Several players failed to make a meaningful contribution including centre Loren Woods and rookie forward Joey Graham.

"He has still got a lot of work to do," Mitchell said of Graham. "He's still tentative. We just feel he can get out on a lot more fast breaks for us and he should be able to give us some offensive rebounds.

"It's still a growing process," Graham said. "It's a learning and we've got 26, 25 games left. I'm going to try to do all the things I can in the last games."

MOVIE MAGIC

A pair of Raptors soon will be coming to Toronto classrooms near you. Joey Graham and Matt Bonner spent much of yesterday filming a video for the Toronto District School Board. The video also stars Maple Leafs' Alex Steen and Matt Stajan and encourages and instructs students in how to use the 20 minutes a day that schools set aside for physical activity.
