HOUSTON -- The Raptors are setting their sights on the 2011 NBA all-star game.

Richard Peddie, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd., said yesterday the Raptors originally were considering applying for the 2009 game, but MLSEL decided to wait until a number of construction projects currently underway near the Air Canada Centre were completed, such as the Maple Leaf Square condos, as well as a hotel and various restaurants and bars.

As well, MLSEL did not want to take any thunder away from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The all-star game, which generates millions for the host city, will be in Las Vegas next year, and most likely in New Orleans in 2008.
