Sam Mitchell has been around as the club's head coach for less than two seasons, but he already has moved to third on the list of most games coached in franchise history.
A game against the Charlotte Bobcats last night was the 132nd with Mitchell at the helm, passing Darrell Walker. Lenny Wilkens still is the leader with 246 games, followed by Butch Carter (165).
Turns out Raptors rookie Jose Calderon will be going to the all-star game next week in Houston after all. But not as a player, though Calderon did receive early consideration this season to quality for the rookie-sophomore Game. The first-year point guard ultimately was not selected to the rookie squad, but he will be at the festivities as a commentator with the Spanish TV network, Canal. Calderon's teammate, forward Charlie Villanueva, did get named to the rookie team. Third-year forward Chris Bosh was named to his first all-star team. Another Raptor also will be in Houston. Matt Bonner will attend meetings during all-star week as the team's representative with the NBA Players' Association.
