Veteran forward Eric Williams has been unable to practice for the last two days after tweaking his sore right knee on Tuesday when he ran into rookie point guard Jose Calderon.
"It's probably something a couple of days rest (will fix up)," Williams said.
"These days in this business we can't take inflammatory pills so I have to let nature and water (do the healing)."
MUCH MORE IRRITATING
Observers at the Raptors practice yesterday were under the impression that GM Rob Babcock had finally brought in somebody to help at the centre position.
Turns out, however, that the tall drink of water interviewing Matt Bonner and Loren Woods was none other than off-the-wall MuchMusic personality Stuewy Bernard. As one sports writer noted:"That's just what an 0-4 team needs. Some clown doing interviews."
AROUND THE RIM
A number of writers and broadcasters have travelled to Toronto from Spain to interview favorite son Jose Calderon. Yesterday, Calderon was interviewed by a journalist from a Spanish basketball website ... Forward Morris Peterson branded tonight's game against the Utah Jazz as close to being a must-win game as is possible for this time of the season. "But at the same time, if we give 110% that's all you can ask for and that's what everyone wants," MoPete said. "Everybody wants to see us play hard and move in the right direction" ... The most frustrating aspect for head coach Sam Mitchell and his players during the club's 0-4 start to the regular season has been the team's inability to translate excellent practices to game situations. "Our practices have been great," Mitchell said. "But mentally we have to be able to focus and carry it over at 7 o'clock on game nights."
