Sam Mitchell probably will wait until the last minute to determine the two Raptors players who will start the season on the inactive list.
With 14 players still around, the Raptors coach is in no rush to set his 12-man roster for the season opener Wednesday against the visiting Washington Wizards. Unlike in previous years, teams don't have to make up injuries for extra bodies.
"It's not time," Mitchell said. "We could have an injury before then, so I don't want to start telling them we're going to do this and do that. You keep them all in the frame of mind that they're playing."
The smart money is on the injured Pape Sow and Aaron Williams to be the odd men out. Mitchell said he doesn't plan to flip-flop the inactives with the actives too often.
"I promise you, teams are not going to do that," he said. "It will be tough. You may do it with the 11th and 12th guy. But you're not going to do it with guys who are eight or nine on the rotation."
The Raptors hold their annual open practice today at noon at the Air Canada Centre. The men's and women's finals of the Raptors Invitational tournament for post-secondary teams follow the practice.
