With the trade deadline now just eight days away (Feb.24) Raptors GM Rob Babcock acknowledged yesterday that his phone will likely be ringing off the hook.

A number of Raptors have been linked to various trade rumours over the past few weeks, particularly veterans Donyell Marshall and Jalen Rose. But Babcock said yesterday that he will not be looking to make deals just to dump or move salaries.

"You're always looking and working hard to improve your team," Babcock said. "But I'll only make a trade if something really makes sense for our basketball team."

Marshall has been linked to Miami, San Antonio and New York while Jalen Rose has also been spurring interest from other NBA squads. Both, however, are playing well for the Raptors, so keeping one or both won't be such a bad move for the GM.

"If we don't make a trade, I'm completely happy with what we have for the rest of the season," Babcock said.

YOU GO MO

Forward Morris Peterson will play in his 250th consecutive game tonight against the Chicago Bulls, the second-longest current streak in the NBA behind Antawn Jamison (378). MoPete said that tonight's game is an accomplishment he'll be able to look back on fondly.

"I kind of take pride in being an iron man," he said, adding that there are a number of factors in his ability to play night after night. "One is luck. But a lot of it is conditioning, making sure you take care of your body, eating well ... and I've been trying to do that."

AROUND THE RIM

Jalen Rose, who was traded to the Raptors last season from the Chicago Bulls had his own way of motivating two of the young starsfrom the Chicago team last season, Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler. Whenever one recorded a double-double, Rose paid the man $500.
