Raptors general manager Rob Babcock met with Alonzo Mourning and his agent yesterday in Florida, amid reports out of Miami that the Raptors are negotiating a buyout for the 6-foot-10 centre.
"We had a good meeting," Babcock told The Toronto Sun last night while en-route to an Auburn-Florida university hoops game with his brother Pete, the Raptors director of NBA player personnel.
"He's still dealing with health issues, which are real issues. He's not down there on vacation."
Babcock wouldn't comment on a report in the Miami Herald that he is in the midst of negotiating a buyout with the 34-year-old centre, who wants to finish his career on a contender, preferably with the Miami Heat.
Mourning was traded to the Raptors, along with Eric and Aaron Williams on Dec.17 for Vince Carter.
Indications are that he would never play for the Raptors, even though Toronto continues to pay his salary.
