One eventful trip for Rose to enjoy
By STEVE BUFFERY -- Toronto Sun

Jalen Rose sure has had a whirlwind trip during the Raptors' seven-game, west coast swing.

At least during the Los Angeles leg.

After appearing on the Best Damn Sports Show Period on Monday afternoon at the Fox Studios in Century City, Rose was taken directly to the Vibe Awards, which celebrates hip hop and urban music, in nearby Santa Monica.

Rose witnessed first hand the nastiness of that particular event when an unidentified man walked over to rap pioneer Dr. Dre, a couple of tables over from where Rose was sitting, and belted the good doctor smack in the kisser.

All hell broke loose when Dr. Dre's bodyguards advanced on the attacker and beat the living hell out of him. A man was stabbed during the melee and taken to a local hospital.

"I wasn't scared at all," said Rose, a Detroit native. "It's not like we were in somebody's alley somewhere."

VINCE WOES

Perhaps the most alarming statistic in regard to Vince Carter's slow start to this season is his tendency to shoot from the outside and not attack the basket. In seven games, Carter has only been to the free throw line 19 times (less than three times per game). Last season, Carter went to the line over six times per game.

NOTES

Forward Donyell Marshall, who is on the injured list with a right hamstring sprain, may be ready for Sunday's game against San Antonio at the Air Canada Centre ... Second-year forward Chris Bosh leads the team in minutes with 35.6 mpg, followed by point guard Rafer Alston (33.0) and guard Jalen Rose 30.0.
