Rose is not worried

While the Raptors filed on to a bus after practicing yesterday at gritty L.A. Southwestern College, forward Jalen Rose had a limo waiting for him.

Rose had to be rushed to the Fox Studios in Century City for the taping of The Best Damn Sports Show Period.

Prior to the shoot, Rose took a minute to pour water on suggestions that there are problems brewing between himself, Vince Carter and head coach Sam Mitchell. Mitchell has sat both veterans for lengthy periods of time this season.

"Every team has issues," Rose said. "When you have so many personalities and characters like we have on our team ... it makes it seem sometimes we're not pulling in the same direction. But at the end of the day, we're all about winning games and I think for the most part we're all on the same page and trying to do the right thing."

MR. MUSIC

Vince Carter has taken to wearing an IPOD on the court before games this season -- a way to get himself into the mindset to play hard.

Unfortunately, the NBA is expected to come down on the Raptors star forward as headphones and earphones are not allowed on the court.

"I hadn't heard that," Carter said yesterday.

Carter said another reason for the IPOD is that he no longer enjoys the choice of music being played at the Air Canada Centre prior to tipoff.

THE BIG SCRAMBLE

The Raptors enjoyed a day off in Los Angeles on Sunday but team staff spent much of the weekend scrambling for a place to practice yesterday.

The team finally decided on practicing at L.A. Southwest Community College after initially balking at the facility. The Raptors were hoping to get gym time between 11 a.m.--1 p.m., but the college could only offer time between 1-3 p.m.

Team officials looked at a number of other venues, including Loyola Marymount University, but finally decided to take the time offered by Southwest.
