The Raptors longtime head athletic trainer, Chuck Mooney, is hanging out with some very fast company these days.
Mooney, who was gassed by the Raptors this past summer after eight years with the organization, has joined forces with Canadian sprint legend Donovan Bailey at a cutting edge health and rehabilitation centre in Oakville.
"Donovan called me while he was in Athens for the Olympics and said he heard I wasn't with the Raptors anymore," Mooney said. "And he had a business proposal for me."
One of the top trainers in the NBA, Mooney agreed to join up with Bailey at CORE Rehabilitation and Health Services Inc., a 7,000 square foot facility operated by the 1996 Olympic 100-metre sprint champion.
Mooney said he will be doing much of the same work with various amateur teams and the general public at CORE as he did with the Raptors.
"We're providing cutting edge rehab for the everyday people," said Mooney, who was surprised and saddened when the Raptors let him go this summer.
