RIFT ONGOING IN RAPTORVILLE
Raptors coach Kevin O'Neill and GM Glen Grunwald insist that they get along, but there is obviously a communication problem between them.
When asked yesterday what the thinking was behind the club's decision to activate Robert Archibald for Jerome Moiso, O'Neill replied: "I'm not sure exactly the thinking behind that, you'd have to ask Glen."
Obviously, Grunwald didn't consult his coach on the move.
And the Raptors soap opera continues ...
The Raptors yesterday activated centre Archibald from the injured list and placed Moiso on the IL with a right hip flexor strain. Archibald has missed the past eight games with a sore lower back. He is averaging 1.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 8.8 minutes in 27 games this season. Moiso has averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 and 11.9 minutes in 35 games. He leads the team in DNP -- Coaches Decision with 38. He is eligible to rejoin the active roster on April 9 against Detroit.
OFF TO AFRICA
Rookie centre Chris Bosh, veteran forward Michael Curry and assistant coach Jim Sann will be the Raptors contingent in Africa this Sept. 6-10 as part of the Basketball Without Borders crew. Bosh, along with NBAers Dikembe Mutombo, Michael Olowokandi and Malik Rose will travel to Johannesburg, South Africa to conduct a clinic with boys 15-17 from all over Africa.
SICK AND TIRED
Raptors forward Cory Blount missed last night's game after coming down with tonsillitis. Blount was unable to attend the shootaround in the morning because of a high temperature and flu-like symptoms. His condition was diagnosed in the afternoon.
