TORONTO - Andrew Wiggins is getting an up-close and hard look at the business side of the NBA before his career even begins.

But the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft isn’t about to share his feelings on his professional life at this stage, no matter how fast it’s coming at him.

“I just don’t worry about nothing that is not in my control,” Wiggins said following a video shoot at his alma mater, Glen Shields Public School in Concord, where he filmed his first commercial for Biosteel, the Canadian sports nutrition drink that recently signed him.

“I just know when October hits and the season comes I will be playing basketball, the sport I love.”

It marked Wiggins first interviews since word leaked out of an impending trade that will see him leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and their recently repatriated son LeBron James for the equivalent of the NBA nether regions in Minnesota.

The trade, which cant be made public until a month after Wiggins signed his first contract, which will hit Aug. 23, will send Wiggins along with fellow Canadian Anthony Bennett and a protected first-round pick from Cleveland to Minnesota. Minnesota sends Kevin Love back to Cleveland then flips Bennett to Philadelphia for Thaddeus Young.

Wiggins revealed little through a six-minute interview with a mass of media on hand for the event.

Asked what it has been like to be in the spotlight and be critiqued in the media since draft night, Wiggins smiled and ignored the downside to his now even bigger public persona.

Its been cool, he said. I have been trying to spend as much time with my family as I could. Just enjoying the time, enjoying the summer and what it has to offer.
