Andrew Wiggins, Cleveland hardly knew you — and never seemed to really want you either.

When the Cavaliers miraculously won the NBA lottery yet again in May, the team never committed to the prodigy from Vaughan, Ont., who had long been considered a potential NBA star. It was going to be his teammate Joel Embiid, until Embiid got injured again. Than it was a coin toss between Wiggins and Duke forward Jabari Parker.

Though the Cavs eventually picked Wiggins first overall, there were no billboards put up and the team gave him a muted reception. Then LeBron James decided to return to Ohio — with no mention of Wiggins in his celebrated letter and the initial seed was planted — maybe Canada South was not going to be formed in Cleveland.
