Raymond Felton pleaded guilty in Manhattan state Supreme Court to a felony gun charge to avoid jail time.

Felton, who was traded to the Dallas Mavericks after playing in New York for the Knicks last season, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.

Felton was sentenced to 500 hours community service with potential to serve outside of New York. He also was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, and told the case will be closed with no further consequences if he fulfills the sentence.

Felton, 30, was charged with possession of a large-capacity ammunition firearm when his then-wife turned in the weapon to police as they began divorce proceedings.
