This should the best time of Andrew Wiggins young life.

He was just chosen No. 1 in the NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He just signed a mega-deal with Adidas. He has been showing his stuff in the NBA Summer League.

What could be bad?

Except now, Wiggins is in the middle of something not of his own doing. He has become a trade rumour, a chip, an asset. When LeBron James signed a two-year contract to return to Cleveland, he did so with the likely assurance the Cavs would do everything possible to reach the championship level.

And that anything could well mean the trading of Wiggins — and possible last year’s No. 1 pick, fellow Canadian Anthony Bennett — possibly to Minnesota in a deal for forward Kevin Love.

For now, Wiggins waits, not sure if he’s coming or going, uncertain if he’s wanted or not. Nothing would be better for the formative years of his career than to play with James. Who wouldn’t benefit from that?
