TORONTO - With July’s arrival at midnight, teams gained the right to meet with free agents, kicking off what could be a transformative NBA off-season. While negotiations can take place and details surely will leak out, contracts cannot officially be signed, or trades consummated, until midnight on July 10, because of the league’s moratorium period.

Miami’s Big Three, led by LeBron James, each opted out and reports swirled Monday that James will demand the full max available to him, which starts around $22 million U.S., whether he stays in Miami or goes elsewhere.
