Michael Jordan dismisses paternity suit allegations

NBA legend Michael Jordan has asked a U.S. judge to dismiss a paternity suit filed against him by a woman in Georgia, insisting the father of her teenage son has already been identified.

The current majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats was hit with legal action by Pamela Smith last month, amid claims her son Grant was the product of a fling she had with Jordan in 1995. She demanded the retired athlete take a DNA test to prove his paternity and requested child support and medical expenses.

However, Jordan is fighting the accusations and his lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the case on Monday, according to TMZ.com.

A statement released by the retired sportsman's representative reads: "Public records show that the paternity of the child was established in a prior case in this same court many years ago and that Michael Jordan is not the father.

"It is unfortunate that well-known figures are the target of these kind of claims. Michael Jordan will vigorously defend himself and his reputation."
