If you’re looking for examples of the ups and downs of an NBA season, you would be hard-pressed to find a time to do so than than right now.
What’s down is up and what was up is down for a large portion of the league these days.
Whether it’s the Miami Heat struggling to find their happy faces on a nine-day trip through the west or the Atlanta Hawks scoring just 58 points in a game, plenty of good teams are looking pretty bad right now.
On the flip side some teams that were looking pretty bad — your local Toronto Raptors included — have at least shown the ability to put a nice streak together.
Then there’s the former giants like the Celtics who people were writing off as a playoff contender only a couple of weeks ago now looking unbeatable.
Look hard enough and there are answers for all of it — some the result of shake-up changes like Avery Johnson being shown the door in Brooklyn where the Nets are now 8-1 under former assistant P.J. Carlesimo.
