Canadian NBA star Steve Nash is reportedly in a peculiar paternity war to keep his kids from moving closer to him in California.
In his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, the eight-time NBA all-star is said to be in nasty dispute with his ex-wife, Alejandra Amarilla, who reportedly wants to move the couple’s three children closer to their father.
According to TMZ, Nash’s ex-wife has hired a big-name divorce lawyer, Lance Spiegel, to battle the Victoria, B.C.-native in court.
"I can't comment on the information,” Spiegel told TMZ. "I confirm that I have been retained by Alejandra, that I cannot comment because of the reasons described and that Alejandra is not available for comment."
Sources close to the couple told TMZ that one of the NBA’s top point guards is waging a legal war to prevent the move.
On Monday, the Hollywood gossip website reported that a move might force Nash to pay substantially more child support than if the children stay in Arizona.
Nash’s representatives didn’t immediately return requests for comment.
