NBA clamping down on 'flopping'
By QMI Agency
The NBA no longer will tolerate diving, announcing Wednesday that an "anti-flopping" rule will be in effect this season. "Flops have no place in our game -- they either fool referees into calling undeserved fouls or fool fans into thinking the referees missed a foul call," NBA executive vice-president Stu Jackson said. He said that video review will be used to determine whether a player has committed a flop. The player first will get a warning and then an automatic fine, starting at $5,000 and rising with further violations. Jackson said that drawing an offensive foul by moving to a given position would not count as flopping.
