Bulls' Rose out 8-12 months
Will miss part of next season

CHICAGO - Chicago Bulls team physician Brian Cole provided an update on Derrick Rose and said the star point guard could be sidelined the next 8-to-12 months following surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
"He really has to meet certain objective parameters that we progress him through," Cole said during a press conference at Rush University Medical Center. "It's really a series of progressions, very knee focused initially, which is what we're doing now. We spread out from there, doing entire body conditioning, performance training and so forth."
With the timetable that Cole provided, Rose will miss at least part of the 2012-13 season.
Rose, who had the surgery Saturday, suffered the injury in the first playoff game against the Philadelphia 76ers on April 28. Chicago won the game, but went on to lose the series as the 76ers defeated the Bulls, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, in six games.
Rose, 23, missed 27 of the 66 games this season with several injuries, including back spasms and a pulled groin. When he did play, he averaged 21.8 points and 7.9 assists per game.
