Knicks' Stoudemire out indefinitely
By SPORTS NETWORK
NEW YORK, NY - The New York Knicks announced Monday that forward Amare Stoudemire is out indefinitely after an MRI revealed a bulging disk in his lower back.
Back issues have hampered Stoudemire before, most notably during last season's playoff loss to Boston. The 29-year-old played just 24 minutes in Saturday's contest with the Detroit Pistons before he left early when his back tightened.
Stoudemire is averaging 17.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for the Knicks, who will need the services of the six-time All-Star if they want to remain in the playoff picture in the East as they hold a tenuous 1 1/2 game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks for the final playoff spot.
The Knicks play host to the Bucks on Monday and will also be without guard Jeremy Lin, as the Harvard product nurses a sore right knee.
