LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest will be playing for the Cheshire Jets of the British Basketball League during the NBA lockout, according to his Twitter account.

"Go Jets!!!!! Uk, here we come!!!" Artest tweeted. "Jets are the best!!! Jets are the best!!! New chant!!!!!!!!!"

He also posted a picture of a fan holding up a Jets jersey with his proposed name change, "Metta World Peace", across the back.

The Jets' season runs from Sept. 30 through April 22, but if the lockout were to end during that span, Artest would have to return to the Lakers, per FIBA rules.

The 12-year veteran averaged 8.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 29.4 minutes per game last season.
