Heat make qualifying offer to Chalmers
By Sports Network

MIAMI, FLA - The Miami Heat announced Wednesday that they have made a qualifying offer to guard Mario Chalmers, which makes him a restricted free agent.

The Heat will have an opportunity to match any other contract offer on the 6- foot-2, 190-pound guard, who averaged 6.4 points and 2.5 assists over 70 games this season.

During the six-game championship series loss to Dallas this season, Chalmers increased his postseason averages in points (11.8), assists (3.5), rebounds (2.7), minutes (29.0) and three-point field goal percentage (.400).

The Heat acquired the Kansas product in a draft-day deal with Minnesota in 2008, trading two 2009 second-round picks and cash considerations.
