IRVING, TEXAS - Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson appeared intoxicated and didn't know where he was when he was arrested Tuesday night in a suburb outside Dallas, according to police.

Irving police said Wednesday that officers responded to the Gran Venetian apartments at 6201 Love Dr. around 10:30 p.m. local time for a report of an intoxicated person walking in the area.

Once there, they found Stevenson and administered field sobriety tests. Based on the results, as well as Stevenson's statements and observations of the officers, he was arrested for public intoxication without incident.

Stevenson, 30, was booked into the Irving City jail and released early Wednesday morning after posting bond, police said.

The Mavericks captured their first NBA championship on Sunday with a Game 6 win over the Miami Heat. Stevenson, who was replaced in the starting lineup by J.J. Barea during the series, had nine points during the win.

He has played 11 seasons in the league with the Jazz, Magic, Wizards and Mavericks.
