Nets reward Gaines with multi-year deal

Washington, D.C. - The New Jersey Nets rewarded guard Sundiata Gaines with a multi-year contract on Sunday.

Terms of the deal were not released, per club policy.

Gaines, who signed the first of two straight 10-day contracts with New Jersey on February 28, has seen action in seven contests with the Nets this season and has posted per-game averages of 5.0 points and 2.9 assists in 14.6 minutes.

The 24-year-old Georgia product has also played for Toronto and Minnesota this year and is averaging 4.3 points and 1.8 assists in 21 games.

In 53 career NBA games, including 32 appearances with Utah during the 2009-10 campaign, Gaines has averaged 3.7 points and 1.4 assists.
