Celtics sign Murphy

BOSTON - The Boston Celtics have officially signed forward Troy Murphy.
Murphy was acquired by the Warriors last Wednesday in a deal that sent forwards Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright to the Nets.
The highly-paid Notre Dame product was waived by the club just five days later, and was reportedly contemplating signing with the Celtics or the Miami Heat.
Murphy, who was selected 14th overall in the 2001 draft, has averaged 11.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists with Golden State, Indiana and New Jersey during his 10-year career.
According to the Boston Globe, the Celtics are also vying for services of recently-waived swingman Corey Brewer.
